Rare as is true love, true friendship is rarer.
I find it true, as nowadays it seems very difficult to find friends. We may find companions, who can share only our leisure times and most of happy days only. Most of us even don't know the meaning of friendship, they think spending time, talking, chatting and watching movies together is friendship.
But friends, friendship is a spiritual inspiration that come to us when we discover that someone else is believing in us and is willing to trust us with his friendship. The pleasure we derive from friendship is often greater than that which we gain from the most stupendous grandeur of nature.
Jeremy Taylor had quoted, By friendship we mean the greatest love, the greatest usefulness, the most open communication, the noblest sufferings, the severest truth, the heartiest counsel and the greatest union of minds which brave men and women are capable.
If we wish to make friends, we need to develop the qualities which attract noble qualities in others. The richest reward and the deepest satisfaction of friendship consists in giving fully at all times the best of oneself to one's friends without thought of the extent to which it may or may not be reciprocated.
It is a matter of wholehearted giving, an attitude which is far more likely to elicit an equally general response.
So if you are a true friend of someone, please not only spend your leisure time with him but also try to respect his feelings too. It is the greatest reward we can give to our friends.
